Kingdom of the Dead - MRC Photo Shoot!

Some pics of Kingdom of the Dead's Murfreesboro Rock Camp photo shoot from Thursday!

Day THREE of Murfreesboro Rock Camp!

Hard to believe we're half way through Murfreesboro Rock Camp!

Wednesday was Day Three, and we put our campers to work!

In the morning campers worked with their bands for two hours, perfecting their songs, locking down lyrics, and ROCKING in general.

Then guest speaker Ron Shuff took the stage, giving our campers a chance to learn about his unique history in the music industry, from singing in his church choir to owning two successful music shops and a studio today.

Ron also put campers through their paces, taught them some amazing vocal exercises and led some group vocals. It was awesome!

Special guest speaker Ron Shuff addressing MRC

After lunch our Murfreesboro Rock Camp Band Managers Jimmy and JD crammed a whole lot of awesome information about Recording into a two-hour workshop, where the kids got to help create a track and get hands on with recording equipment.

Our afternoon practice sessions went very well! You guys are going to be blown away by these bands on Saturday!

Thursday is DAY FOUR of MRC, and we can't wait to see what happens next!

Keep On Rocking!

Silver Streak Photo Shoot Workshop!

DAY TWO of Murfreesboro Rock Camp!

HEY THERE ALL YOU ROCKERS!!!!

Today we had an awesome time again!

Tuesday's schedule included an amazing photo workshop, where each of our bands got some amazing pictures made! The next few posts will include some pics from each shot. Hard to believe these guys have only been playing together for a day!

In addition to a killer band photo shoot workshop, our bands started digging in to the meat of their amazing songs! Rock Camp is really starting to come together, and the sweet sounds of Rock music can be heard all day long throughout our halls.

Campers participated in an Open Mic session where they had a chance to show us their stuff. It was truly inspiring. We have a group of amazingly talented musicians on our hands!

Our camper's homework? To practice, Practice, PRACTICE!!!! And to come tomorrow prepared to ask a lot of questions to our guest speaker, Ron Shuff, owner of Shuff's Music, a commercial studio in Nashville, and Shuff's Piano Shop who has been a mover and a shaker on the local music scene for years.

Check the next post for some truly inspiring band photos!

What will tomorrow bring? Find out at Murfreesboro Rock Camp!

ROCK on,

Report - Day ONE of Murfreesboro Rock Camp

Hello Rock Camp attendees, volunteers and fans!

This is a recap of our first day of Rock Camp!

Today we created six amazing new bands. Campers met their Band Managers and Producers, selected their songs, attended an awesome marketing workshop, and spent time in a songwriting workshop as well, creating their very own songs!

Some pics from Day 1's First Session of Songwriting Workshop!

Their day included hours of hands on guidance, and a unique homework assignment: Dress Up! Tomorrow we are taking pictures with Daniel Lewis!

Several of our bands are creating unique sounds, and we are all blown away by the progress they are making already. This Saturday's Rock Camp Showcase is going to be BANANAS! Rocking bananas.

After a long day of Rock, our campers went home and we were excited to see what DAY TWO of Murfreesboro Rock Camp had to bring...

signing off,

Latest Rock Camp News! - June 7 Edition

Murfreesboro Rock Camp – Press Release – June 7, 2011

Local Partnership Makes Summer Music Camp Possible
Murfreesboro Rock Camp Grows with the Help of Kingdom Living Ministries

It’s been a busy summer for Murfreesboro Rock School, a local organization dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through music education. It has been so busy that they outgrew their facility space due to local interest in the summer program, Murfreesboro Rock Camp.

Local leaders at Kingdom Living Ministries have stepped up to the plate making a bigger, better Murfreesboro Rock Camp possible. In a thriving new partnership, these two organizations have come together to make this vital summer music education program available to Murfreesboro’s youth.

Murfreesboro Rock Camp will be held at Kingdom Living Ministries (1444 W Jefferson Pike), a flourishing local ministry founded in 2003 by Steffron and Gwendolyn James. The James family and their congregation have opened their arms to give back to the community by supporting music education and the positive influence the arts have in the lives of children.

With a perfect location, there is room at Murfreesboro Rock Camp for additional campers to get involved in this life changing summer program. We encourage anyone with a heart for music to get involved in this worthwhile cause either by registering, volunteering, teaching or changing the lives of local children by sponsoring a camper.

Local kids looking for a fun new experience this summer can sign up for Murfreesboro Rock Camp, a five-day music program from July 18 – 22 for young people ages 8 – 18 focused on all things ROCK, from creating and performing, to promoting and recording.

Rock Camp teachers and volunteers will help students create new bands, write their own music, record demo CDs, run sound equipment for live shows, promote the music, star in music videos, design graphics for CDs and t-shirts, perform in a live showcase, and so much more.

Learning to perform music has been statistically linked to higher grades, a lower rate of student drop outs and improved self-esteem in children. Be the reason for their success.

Registration is open for the summer 2011 sessions of Murfreesboro Rock Camp. Parents can register online at www.MurfreesboroRockSchool.com by clicking on the “Rock Camp” link then “Sign Up Now.” They can also register by in person by scheduling a meeting at Murfreesboro Rock School’s office (123 East Main Street Suite D). Call 615-601-BORO or e-mail MurfreesboroRockCamp@gmail.com for more information on volunteering, teaching, sponsoring or enrolling.

Murfreesboro Rock School is a pending 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through music education. It was founded by Ryan York and Micah Johnson-York in 2010. Murfreesboro Rock School believes in fostering self-confidence and individual growth in a positive, supportive environment through music.
